Special Council Meeting

THAT the 2019 draft audited financial statements be approved.

THAT the recommendations contained within Committee of the Whole Report related to the Transportation and Environmental Services Section be approved.

THAT as per the recommendation from Committee of the Whole on May 12, 2021 Council approves the following motion: WHEREAS Council recognizes the former secondary school known as PSS has significant sentimental value and emotional attachments for members of the community; WHEREAS the former secondary school building has a substantial amount of asbestos containing materials within it; WHEREAS the building requires a substantial amount of operating and capital dollars over the short, medium and long terms to sit vacant and bring the building to appropriate standards; BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council supports Option #1 in Report CAO-2021-07 to proceed with demolition and asbestos abatement in an expedient manner; AND THAT Council directs Administration to explore and pursue avenues to provide Members of the Community with opportunities to own various chattels currently included within the building; AND THAT Council directs Administration to proceed with a thorough and comprehensive community consultation and engagement strategy with respect to the future potential uses of the vacant property;

THAT a five (5) year extension be granted to the Draft Plan of Condominium approval pursuant to Section 51(33) of the Planning Act to May 26, 2025 for the property at 2 Beck Boulevard (File No PEN-SUB-2006-01).
